After finishing two romantic—maybe too romantic—books, I felt like changing the genre, and decided to read a book called Want You Dead. I must admit that at first I was not quite convinced by the title nor the cover, but reading the story in it proved me absolutely wrong.

Want You Dead is a crime thriller book, in which a young woman named Red is stocked by her obsessive ex-boyfriend, whose name is Bryce Laurent. Bryce and Red had met shortly after Red shared a brief post on an online dating website: “Single girl, 29, redhead and smouldering, love life that's crashed and burned. Seeks new flame to rekindle her fire. Fun, friendship, and - who knows - maybe more?” And, as soon as Bryce notices this post, he contacts Red and invites her to meet up.

With a bunch of lies, Bryce pretends to be the perfect guy, making Red fall in love with him after several dates. After a couple of years, things in their relationship get too tough for Red, needing police help to move out from where Bryce and her lived. After breaking up, Bryce continually stalks her, breaking into her apartment, damaging her car, and worse things that make life impossible, not only for Red, but to all her loved ones.

I could totally relate this book to programs like CSI or Criminal Minds, because most of the book recounts the police investigation done by the police department to find Bryce Laurent, since Red has asked for their help because she does not know what to do to deal with the stalking situation anymore. Throughout the whole book, the author writes from Red’s point of view, Bryce’s point of view, and a Roy Grace’s point of view. Roy Grace is the detective in charge of the Red’s case.

I liked this book mainly because I have always loved crime thriller books and programs, and after reading a few love stories, reading something different was really interesting and I enjoyed it. I personally think romance is a better genre, but this book was better than many love stories I’ve read. I would definitely recommend it to people who like crime investigations, suspense, and thriller. On a scale of to 4, I would rate this book a 3.5, and I’d consider it one of the best books I have read so far.
