3D Printing Original Artwork

Unit Overview

For this unit I created a 2D drawing using 2 out of the three artistic elements; repetition, pattern and rhythm. After creating my drawing on paper, turned it into a vector graphic using the Adobe Shapes app, and then revised my drawing in Adobe Illustrator. I had to save my drawing as a .svg file, and upload this to TinkerCad. Here I was able to extrude it into a piece of 3D art. When held up to the window the thin parts (that I extruded) are able to be seen.

Enduring Understanding

My drawing shows pattern because each petal looks the same. It also shows repetitions because I repeated the flowers and made them smaller so that they could fit inside each other, looking kind of like a lotus flower.

Reflection on Progress Towards the Standards

Area(s) of Strength

In this unit, I was able to come up with an idea and finish my work quickly and effectively, creating a well executed vector graphic from a 2D design with a few imperfections

Area(s) for Improvement

I had to re-design my work several times, because the lines were too thin, so I was unable to print it properly, since it kept breaking.
