A few weeks ago, I read a book that touched like not many other books have. Nicholas Sparks did such a good job with “A Walk to Remember,” that i finished it in two days. It is about 250 pages long, and it kept me glued to it since the moment I read the first page. If you like romantic/tragic stories, I absolutely recommend this book. it will keep you glued to it like it did with me.

"A Walk to Remember" is a very moving love story that takes place in the early 1950’s. The story, especially the ending, made me realize that Nicholas Sparks’ book is not like a fairytale, where everything ends up perfect. Even though it is not based on a true story, as a reader, I realize how real the story is, and that it could actually happen to anyone. I think this is what made me enjoy this book so much as I was reading it.

Something I liked a lot about the way the author wrote, was that the ending of each chapter was a cliffhanger, and it left me wanting to know what was going to happen next. This is probably one of the reasons I finished the book in only two days. Also, I liked that he foreshadowed the events that were coming up very often, but with just the precise amount of information, without explicitly telling me what was going to happen or when. What I liked about that was that it led me to imagine many things while I was reading, and wanting to see if I was right, or at least close to guessing what would happen next.

I would say a theme of this book is definately love, but also hope. In the book, both main characters are quite religious, and throughout the story, they go through a series of events in which hope is basically all they have left. This theme is present in the whole book, but mainly in the last 20-30 pages. I also want to mention that I was very moved by the following passage: “... but i know that when my time comes, the memories of that day will be the final images that float through my mind.” This sentence is said by the main character on the last page of the book. I think it is moving because it shows how important the events that he lived throughout the story were to him. I would totally recommend this book, especially to girls, since we are more emotional and enjoy this type of books more than boys, although I believe some boys would also enjoy it. It is not that long, and it kept me interested with every single page. “A walk to remember” Is by far one of the best romantic books I’ve read, and, having read a couple of books written by him, I would say Nicholas Sparks is an excellent author when it comes to love stories.
